Job Title: M&E Project Manager
Location: London – Hybrid – 2 days in office, 3 days WFH or on-site (depending on project needs)
Contract Length: Until March 2025 (Potential for extension)
Day Rate: £350.00 per day Inside IR35
Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) Manager to join our team at a leading local authority in London. The successful candidate will manage the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems for a variety of council-led projects. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with the flexibility to work from home, at the town hall, or on-site depending on the stage and needs of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee M&E aspects of local authority projects, from public infrastructure to housing and building services, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with council standards.
- Work with internal teams and external contractors to develop and approve mechanical and electrical designs that meet regulatory requirements and local authority guidelines.
- Regularly visit sites to supervise the installation and maintenance of M&E systems, ensuring that they adhere to project specifications and safety regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal council teams, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful integration of M&E systems within broader project frameworks.
- Manage project budgets related to M&E systems and provide regular updates and reports to council leadership.
- Ensure all M&E installations meet local authority regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services with substantial relevant experience.
- Alternatively, a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field with moderate experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing M&E projects, ideally within the public sector or local authority environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems design and installation, along with familiarity with UK regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
- Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to work both remotely and on-site, with travel to various project locations across London as required.
